Four goblets

Description

These goblets are turned from yew branches, which gives the brown and white colouring: the white is the sapwood of the branch (near the outside), and the darker brown is the heartwood (the centre). A warning - small splits can materialise some time after finishing, due to the stresses in the wood releasing. Also any very thin sections (such as a stem) can warp as the wood dries out - the goblet on the left has suffered in this way. For this reason I usually keep pieces for some time before offering for sale, to establish their stability.
