Pyrography - the art of woodburning
Pyrography involves burning pictures, design or lettering on to wood (or other material), using a fine electric element. I use this method to put lettering on trophies and commemorative items, and for adding pictures to turned items such as platters and boxes.

In 2018 I created a photo-book with examples of pyrography on pieces of woodturning that I have made. On last checking (July 2020), it was still available as an e-book to flick through on Cewe's site - oldfern pyro.
There are some notes on how to transform text using computer software, also some reference sheets from pyrography demonstrations - though any prices quoted will be out of date, and some slides from a demonstration given to Derbyshire Dales Woodcraft Club in July 2023.
