Description of work

A 14" platter (a shallow bowl) turned from sycamore forms the base for this pyrographed picture. The subject is the Bay Hotel at Robin Hood's Bay, North Yorkshire, with the cobbled road down to the bay in the foreground.

The platter has a small hook on the back, assuming that the picture will be hung rather than displayed flat.

I entered this piece in an AWGB (Association of Woodturners of Great Britain) pyrography competition in April 2021, and it received first prize (a £100 voucher Chestnut Products). The description of the platter submitted for the competition is available.
