Goblets and vases
Wooden goblets are usually turned with the grain passing vertically through the piece. In woodturning this is known as spindle turning.
The same applies to wooden vases, often called hollow forms in woodurning parlance.
A bud vase is usually a small (3 - 6 inch tall) vase with a hole drilled to accept small items, often dried material. They can be made with glass tubes inside to hold fresh buds of flowers.
