Ruby

Description of work

A 9" wall plaque turned from sycamore forms the base for this pyrographed picture. The subject is Ruby, my niece's very large mastiff dog. She runs a dog walking and pet care service in the Bradford/Leeds area - Chez Paws.

I tend to use sycamore for pyrography, because of the fine grain and light colour. More grainy woods such as ash can cause problems, different sections of grain burning at different intensities and creating an uneven effect.

I can do similar items for other dogs or pets, given a reasonably clear (contrasting) photograph. An electronic photograph would be ideal.
