Stools and chairs

We have made a number of stools, mainly for children, usually with some kind of inscription and picture on the seat, usually to commemorate a christening or birthday.

The legs are turned to a "Windsor" design, with three beads at the top and a tulip leg at the base. They are usually angled out at around 15 degrees. Sometimes they are jointed with a wedged joint coming through the seat, sometimes with the end concealed - usually to prevent interference with the picture on the top. They are made with four legs.

Timber used is normally ash or oak.

Dimensions are usually 9 to 10 inches diameter seat, 1.5 inches thick, with 8 to 9 inch long legs.

We much prefer to make the round version of this stool (being woodturners first and foremost), but on request we have made rectangular versions.

Price. Stools will cost anything from £100 for a plain round stool with no pyrography, to £150 for a very detailed design. The point within the price range will be dictated by the amount of writing and the level of detail in the pyrography on the top. Ladderback chairs with rush seating are very time consuming to make, and will cost £180 - £200.
