The base and items on top are all turned from English yew.
The trophy is made up of a 6" square base, turned at its top to create a plate which has three tools on it: a mallet, a chisel and a hand brace drill. A school enamel badge is applied at the front, and vinyl lettering added. (Nowadays this lettering would be pyrographed). Engraving plates are added to sides and rear to record the winners each year.
Individual winners each year usually receive an engraved chisel. Some designs are below - the most successful being the chisel on a plinth which allows the engraved plate to be applied here rather than on the chisel itself.
