Description of work

The basic shape is known as a platter - in effect a shallow bowl. This is turned from ash.

In the centre a half crown turned from yew is added, bracketing two swords and a mace. An engraved metal plaque has been added to name the trophy - the history trophy, in memory of David Lloyd. David was a former teacher of history and geography at the school. The enamel badge at the bottom is fitted into a recess, because the platter has a slight curve on it which prevents a flat piece of metal being attached directly. The trophy stands on a turned yew tripod.

The guide price range would depend on what was in the centre, whether any lettering was to be pyrographed, and whether a stand was included.

The individual winner in the first year received the small trophy with sword and shield. In subsequent years they have received a dagger on a plinth.
