Burrs occur when an unnatural growth of twiggy matter sprouts from a branch or trunk, or other stress causes unnatural grain patterns. When turned this reveals itself as a multitude of pips and swirls. Often the timber is cracked and pitted as well. All this makes for highly decorative wood. These clocks have now been sold. If you request a commission, the burr and the shape will be different - at least the top part will, being the natural, un-worked wood.
The clock insert is a skeleton clock, completely transparent through to the rear, revealing the full quartz movement. It takes an AA battery, and the dial is four inch gold face roman numerals. Alternative dials and sizes are available - gold or silver, 4", 5", 6" which will vary the price. An example of the same clock as above with a white face is below - £8 cheaper)
A gallery of clocks is available on the site.
