Ball finial
This ball finial requested by Keith to replace an ageing decaying version on his summerhouse. It is turned to fit on the apex of his octagonal roof. The ball is made from cedar, the base is from larch. The choice of wood is dependent on what is available from my suppliers.
The finial was supplied untreated in its natural wood state. I would recommend painting or staining, though cedar would fade away gracefully over 15 to 20 years if left untreated; the larch would go a little quicker though it is a resinous wood with some durability.
