Shaker peg coat rack

Description

This coat rack was made using the classic Shaker peg design - a wine bottle shape with a large button on the end. The pegs are 3 inches long, the rack is 4 feet long, 6 inches high, with a 6 inch wide shelf on top. The whole item is made from reclaimed oak, 3/4 of an inch thick. It is finished with three coas of Danish oil. Commissioned orders would most likely be made from new oak planks.

Obviously the variations on this design are many. Have a look at a different version, a coat rack in yew. The number of pegs can vary, as can their spacing. A version with just a plain backboard and no shelf is possible. A double row of pegs ... endless possibilities. This makes pricing difficult to specify but an example range could be: plain backboard 4 inch wide by 22 inches long, with 5 x 3 inch pegs, all in oak, £30.
