An unusual looking item perhaps! It was made for a friend of mine who spins her own wool. A niddy noddy is used by spinners to measure out their wool. The hanks of wool are wrapped around the two ends in a sort of figure eight, and the distance between the two end is sorted out to give a specific length - say a yard. One end is pointed to allow the wool to slip off easily.
I also made some spare reels for her spinning wheel - but forgot to photograph them before handing over.
