Roseland Food Technology Award

Description of work

A former technology teacher of The Roseland Community College contacted me with a request for two trophies: one for general deisgn technology work, and one for food technology. After an exchange of ideas via email, the idea of putting some food related tools together appealed as the way forward. A scoop and a knife were turned from acacia wood. These were then mounted on an elm plate.

The outer rim of the plate was left blank, apart from the school shield pyrographed on, to allow small shields to be added each year to record the winners. The dedications were therefore placed on the inner dish of the plate. A post was added at the rear of the plate to allow it to rest at a slight angle to the vertical, without the need for an additional stand.

The piece is finished to a high polish using tripoli wax followed by white diamond, then lastly carnauba wax.
