Finials and post caps for gardens

A vertical post has its grain exposed at the top. This will absorb water much quicker if left uncapped. A plain falt square with the grain horizontal will work well, but can be embellished with a finial or post topper. Various shapes are possible - an acorn or a ball are probably the most common, but others could be used.

Cost is inevitably dependent on details of size, timber and shape, and whether a post cap and a dowel screw are required, but is likely to be in the range £8 - £15. (The Tudor post caps were 6" diameter, so were £20 each).
